Small Volume Large Power PTC Thermistor For Protection For High Pulse Currents And A High Number Of Inrush-Power Cycles

The thermistor has high sensitivity, wide operating temperature range, small size, easy to use, easy to process into complex shapes, good stability, and strong overload capacity. In the application, it can not only measure temperature as a measuring element, but also control temperature and circuit compensation element as a control element. According to different temperature coefficients, thermistors are divided into positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors and negative temperature coefficient (NTC). PTC thermistor is a thermistor with positive temperature coefficient, which belongs to semiconductor linear element and is sensitive to temperature. The resistance value is proportional to the temperature change. Within a certain temperature range, the resistance changes with temperature, and the resistivity also increases with temperature. PTC thermistor has three characteristics: voltage-current, current-time, resistance-temperature. The voltage-current characteristic is a volt-ampere characteristic, which refers to the relationship between the voltage clamped at the terminal of the thermistor and the current that reaches the steady state of thermal equilibrium.
